Lots of Play in The Annex

Lots of Play in The Annex took place at 650 Dupont St (Dupont and Christie), bringing the community together for four days of creativity, fun, and shared experiences. Programming was free and open to anyone with a creative spark, and many attendees signed up for select classes in advance while others joined as drop-ins if space was available.

Programs

  • Cartoonify the Neighbourhood – Attendees learned the basics of cartooning while exploring what they loved about their neighbourhood with Joaquin Varela
  • Community Dreaming Installation – Participants added their wishes to our fence and watched it grow
  • Button Making – Guests created their own buttons
  • Colouring Station – Attendees coloured neighbourhood-themed pages
  • Collaborative Mural Workshop – Participants contributed to a mural project with Jasmine Vanstone
  • Paint and Embellish Your Own T-shirt – Guests created custom tees using paint and stencils with Nicholas Ridiculous
  • Drumming Workshop – Attendees played the djembe drums with Glenn Marais, followed by a performance
  • Black Out Poetry – Guests created found poems from books and magazines with Jadyn Hardie-Bardy
  • Beatboxing Workshop – Attendees learned to make beats and melodies using only their mouths with Andre Gibson
  • Ukulele Workshop – Participants learned ukulele fundamentals with Frannie Potts, followed by a performance
