Lots of Play in Roncesvalles

Lots of Play in Roncesvalles took place at 2280 Dundas St W (Bloor and Dundas).

Programming was free and open to anyone with a creative spark! Many attendees signed up for select classes in advance to guarantee their spot, while drop-ins joined if space was available.

The event concluded with the Roncesvalles Launch Party on Saturday, July 19, where participants won prizes, collected free merch, and celebrated Lots of Play together.

Programs

  • Sunny Cyanotypes – Attendees explored cyanotypes and made their own photo-prints using sunlight with Maneesa Veeravel
  • Community Dreaming Installation – Participants added their wishes to the fence
  • Printmaking with Fruits and Veggies – Guests made playful prints using fruits and vegetables as stamps with Maureen Da Silva
  • Collaborative Mural Workshop – Attendees contributed to a mural with Kseniya Tsoy
  • Colouring Station – Guests coloured community-themed pages
  • Paint and Embellish Your Own T-shirt – Attendees created custom tees with Nicholas Ridiculous
  • Lots of Play Launch Party (West End) – Guests celebrated the community event and the first 150 attendees received free swag
  • Colombian Drumming Workshop – Performance by Beny Esguerra followed by a workshop
  • Graffiti Sticker Making – Attendees learned to craft graffiti-style fonts and created their own stickers with Rowell Soller
  • Wake Up and DANCE – Participants took part in an energetic hip hop-inspired dance workshop with Glo Romy
  • Spoken Word Workshop – Performance by Thalia Ruiz followed by an interactive spoken word workshop
  • Ground Circus – Participants explored circus-inspired techniques and community play
  • Beatboxing Workshop – Attendees learned to make beats and melodies with Andre Gibson
  • Found Object Gelli Printing – Attendees used gelli plates and found objects to create unique print artworks with Maureen Da Silva
  • Step Dance Workshop – Attendees learned basic stepping techniques with Chanel Auld
  • Ukulele Workshop – Attendees learned ukulele fundamentals with Ajhani Azure
  • Closing Performance – Performance by Ajhani Azure
